Business Development Executive

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Executive to join the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) team. As a key member of our commercial team, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and development of our digital products and services.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join a leading academic institution and contribute to the development of our commercial strategy. As a Business Development Executive, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders, and driving the growth of our digital products and services.

You will work closely with our marketing and sales teams to develop and execute a business development strategy that aligns with our commercial goals. This will involve conducting market research, analyzing customer needs, and identifying opportunities for growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy to expand our international reach and accessibility of CISL knowledge.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to optimize brand-aligned sales enablement collateral and approach.
  • Proactively engage with clients, stakeholders, and budget holders to identify opportunities and drive sales growth.
  • Utilize CRM to capture engagement, manage, and report pipeline and sales.
  • Effectively communicate with senior stakeholders across both academic and business contexts.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Education to degree level or equivalent relevant practical experience.
  • Experience in business development or sales executive role, with a successful track record of pipeline generation, lead qualification, and conversion of digital product sales.
  • Confident and thorough approach to client need analysis, consultative in style.
  • Sophisticated stakeholder management and identification of necessary budget holders.
  • Proactive, outbound business development activity and engagement, online and face-to-face.
