About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Music Technician to join our team at a popular and high-achieving Secondary School in South Manchester. As a Music Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality music education, assisting both staff and students with technical expertise and ensuring the smooth operation of our music facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to the music department, including setting up and operating audio-visual and recording equipment for lessons, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Resource Management: Maintain and manage music technology resources, including computers, software (DAWs), audio equipment, and musical instruments.
  • Student and Staff Support: Assist students and staff with the use of music technology during lessons and extracurricular activities.
  • Event Management: Organize and manage the setup for school concerts, productions, and external events.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Professional Development: Keep up to date with new developments in music technology and suggest improvements to existing systems.
  • Resource Management: Assist with the cataloging, storage, and management of music resources.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure health and safety regulations are followed in relation to music equipment and facilities.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification in Music Technology, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a similar technical support role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • A strong technical understanding of music technology and audio-visual equipment.
  • Experience in a school setting or similar environment.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • A DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
