About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and flexible Linen Services Assistant to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering hospital linen to wards and departments at the Wigan Infirmary site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver hospital linen to wards and departments at the Wigan Infirmary site.
  • Issue staff uniforms and obtain signatures for delivered uniform stock.
  • Operate the on-site laundry facilities for the washing and drying of Trust-owned items.
  • Record and manage uniform distribution and signatures from staff.
  • Participate in the New Bank Holiday rota system to ensure a continuous service for our patients.
Requirements
  • No formal qualifications are required, but an induction period and on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Experience of working in a similar environment is essential.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills with accurate attention to detail are required.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are necessary for lifting weights up to 20 kgs.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a range of people are essential.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize day-to-day tasks is required.
  • Flexibility in approach is necessary to meet the demands of the role.
Working Environment

The successful candidate will work in a busy linen room environment, providing a delivery service of hospital linen to wards and departments at the Wigan Infirmary site. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
