Key Responsibilities

In your role as a vital member of the senior project team, you will oversee the provision of exemplary services that foster advocacy among customers and colleagues, add value, and support the achievement of established KPIs. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

Oversee the execution of project communication and community outreach strategies, ensuring timely and relevant information is disseminated to all stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the client service teams to ensure prompt and professional resolution of inquiries and complaints. Participate in internal project update meetings and external community engagement forums. Work in partnership with the Project Manager and client stakeholders to execute community engagement and investment strategies. Organize resources for participation in community relations events. Establish effective processes for managing local investment budgets and maintaining comprehensive records. Develop and sustain a robust site visit program, identifying opportunities to showcase expertise, enhance visibility, and build trust within the local community. Support the execution of industry-wide initiatives such as Open Doors, National Apprenticeship Week, and Armed Forces Day. Collaborate with the UK Communications team to ensure effective alignment of messaging, manage media relations, promote project successes, and safeguard the Balfour Beatty brand. Identify potential risks and issues, addressing them through proactive and reactive communication strategies. Facilitate employee engagement activities that reinforce corporate messages, operational changes, and safety initiatives to drive project KPIs. Assist in the creation of project presentations to ensure brand consistency and deliver them as needed. Produce necessary site marketing materials in accordance with company branding standards. Manage the department's planned events, seeking publicity opportunities for potential use. Lead engagement with local council stakeholders. Monitor trends in customer inquiries and complaints to inform operational adjustments that minimize future disruptions. Oversee the production of project newsletters, ensuring inclusion of key messages relevant to the current project phase. Collaborate with peers in similar roles, both internally and externally, to enhance collective knowledge and practices. Coordinate project registration with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and manage the production of the site log book.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

Proven experience in managing communications for construction or civil engineering infrastructure projects. Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing deadlines. Strong experience in community relations and stakeholder management. Collaborative team player with negotiation and influencing skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Solid understanding of media dynamics. Ability to manage, engage, and develop team members. Experience in delivering informative and engaging presentations to diverse audiences. A proactive approach to adding value and enhancing performance. A commitment to knowledge sharing and collaboration. A valid driving license and willingness to travel. Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer literate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related discipline. Membership in CIPR and relevant qualifications. Valid CSCS card. Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape in construction, rail, or utility sectors.
