Position Overview
The Eating Disorders Service at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Physical Health Team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive physical health assessments and management for patients at high risk, as well as offering guidance and support to primary care providers.
Our multidisciplinary team comprises psychiatrists, psychologists, registered mental health nurses, dieticians, nutritionists, occupational therapists, and healthcare support workers, all working collaboratively to ensure optimal patient care.
This part-time position at Band 6 is ideal for a registered nurse (RGN or dual trained) who is eager to contribute to the Physical Health Team. You will be expected to adhere to professional guidelines and maintain accountability in your practice.
This role presents an excellent opportunity for ongoing professional development, with additional specialist training available. While experience in eating disorders is advantageous, we welcome applications from individuals who possess relevant experience and knowledge applicable to this specialized field.
We are committed to supporting your learning and development needs, and we offer a competitive benefits package for our staff.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Ensure the physical health monitoring of high-risk patients is conducted in accordance with professional standards.
- Collaborate with Band 7 colleagues to manage all high-risk patients not assigned to a therapist within the Eating Disorders Service.
- Communicate effectively with allocated professionals both within and outside the service for all cases under your care.
- Engage with external agencies to facilitate access to specialized inpatient care and provide training and support for eating disorder management in primary and secondary care settings.
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop holistic care plans and risk assessments, adhering to Trust and professional record-keeping standards.
- Demonstrate autonomy and professional accountability in clinical decision-making while managing patients requiring physical health monitoring.
