Position: Clinical Nurse Specialist at Commonwealth of Virginia

Role Overview:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing services within correctional facilities, adhering to established nursing protocols.
  • Provide a wide range of healthcare services, including continuous nursing support, patient education initiatives, and urgent care interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Assign responsibilities to team members and adjust to flexible work hours as needed.
  • Ensure the application of evidence-based nursing practices with a focus on correctional healthcare.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid, unrestricted RN license in Virginia or a multi-state compact license.
  • Hold Basic Life Support certification for healthcare professionals.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of nursing principles and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in conducting physical assessments, developing care plans, and managing medications.
  • Have knowledge of mental health disorders, withdrawal symptoms, and medication-assisted therapies.

Additional Insights: Prior experience in a medical corrections environment is advantageous.
