Position Overview

Expectations include scrutinizing data to evaluate potential fraud risks and devising mitigation plans.

This Analyst will undertake sophisticated analysis and modeling of portfolio risks and opportunities. Key responsibilities encompass utilizing diverse systems such as Excel, SAS, SQL, Tableau, and other relational databases to furnish analytical support. The role requires applying knowledge across multiple business and technical domains while independently evaluating and communicating risks and opportunities related to large-scale projects and initiatives. Collaboration with business counterparts within the Line of Business and partner organizations, including Finance, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Propose strategies to assist the business in achieving desired outcomes and making informed decisions based on data analysis results.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial models, market data, financial trends, and portfolio performance to enhance risk management, profitability, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of product performance reports and updates for senior leadership.
  • Identify business trends based on economic and portfolio conditions and effectively communicate findings.
  • Utilize knowledge of various business and technical subjects to independently assess and relay risks and opportunities, large-scale projects, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business counterparts within the Line of Business and partner organizations, including Finance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to use data and metrics to identify root causes.
  • Basic understanding of first and third-party fraud (claims to charge-off timing, chargeback recovery rights, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Solid financial knowledge and comprehension of fraud loss drivers.
  • Proficient in programming languages (e.g., SAS or SQL) and experienced with e-Ledger and Enterprise GL tools (EPM).
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency in Excel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA or graduate-level coursework in finance, accounting, or business management is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in fraud analysis and/or 2+ years of analytical/financial experience (preferably in Payment card/Retail Bank Finance).
  • Exceptional quantitative, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
  • Confidence in finance and accounting principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with others, demonstrating leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to engage with executive-level personnel across the organization with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to present, lead, support, and influence senior management and business stakeholders.
