Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Egger, a leading wood recycler. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our plant equipment, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations, and overseeing routine maintenance and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the optimal performance and efficiency of plant equipment, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Oversee routine maintenance and repairs, managing external contractors and ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Act as the first point of contact for repairs and maintenance, arranging and monitoring work to ensure timely completion.
  • Carry out routine maintenance on plant and equipment, ensuring all tasks are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage contract labour engaged in maintenance activities, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
  • Support the planning, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring seamless integration into existing systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance and related tasks are conducted in a safe working environment, reporting incidents and hazards promptly.
  • Assist in the planning and development of infrastructure, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop and stores, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Fabrication experience, including various welding techniques such as MIG and Arc, with a coded welder qualification an advantage.
  • FLT Licence, with training provided for successful candidates.
  • Supervisory experience or experience managing external contractors.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-organized and efficient, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
