Position: Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

Compensation: £50,000 - £75,000 based on experience

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Remote and On-site)

Aeropeople Limited is collaborating with a leading Aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to find a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer to enhance their engineering team.

This role offers a hybrid working model, combining remote work with on-site responsibilities.

The company is pioneering a new generation of aircraft aimed at significantly reducing carbon emissions, with ambitious goals for sustainability.

The aircraft is designed to accommodate up to 100 passengers or 10 tonnes of cargo, showcasing cutting-edge technology and innovation.

The Systems Engineering, Electrical & Avionics division is responsible for all aspects related to systems engineering, electrical systems, and avionics for the aircraft.

Key responsibilities include developing and managing the vehicle system architecture, overseeing aircraft requirements, and ensuring the integration of electrical and avionics systems.

This role offers a unique chance to contribute to the design and development of advanced Avionics systems, from initial requirements gathering to testing and validation.

This is a hands-on engineering position that involves working on a completely new airframe and contributing to the establishment of a new Avionics team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Head of Systems Engineering to leverage your extensive design experience, from initial concept to detailed design and limited production support, to define and manage activities related to aircraft electrical and avionics design.
  • Design and develop aircraft avionics systems, including Electronic Flight Instrument Systems, Flight Management Systems, and Communication, Navigation, and Identification systems. Your technical expertise will be crucial in driving the program's success.
  • Create system and equipment specifications, including writing Interface Control Documents, managing supplier engineering, selecting equipment, and producing wiring schematics, test procedures, and validation activities.
  • Contribute to the development of a new airframe by collaborating with the Programmes team, providing input into Statements of Work, and supporting vehicle system testing.
  • Engage in future flight test planning and aircraft development by working closely with Engineering and other teams, providing analysis results to inform decision-making.
  • People management: As the team grows, you will be responsible for guiding your team towards achieving organizational goals while fostering their personal and professional development.

  • Strong educational background in engineering, ideally with a degree or HNC/HND qualification, along with relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Aerospace sector, particularly in Flight Deck Avionics.
  • Ability to produce clear and precise technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with the ARP4754 lifecycle from concept to production.
  • Understanding of CAA/EASA/FAA certification processes.
  • Experience or interest in building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Experience in producing 2D and 3D designs for electrical wiring diagrams is a plus.
