Position Overview

Salaried General Practitioner for Maternity Leave Coverage

Duration: Minimum 3 months

Thornhills Medical Practice is looking to appoint a Salaried General Practitioner to provide maternity leave coverage for one of our Assistant GPs. This is a fixed-term role for a minimum of three months.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse patient caseload and addressing a variety of health concerns within a primary care environment, ensuring the highest quality of care for all patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting in-person consultations and telephone consultations.
• Visiting patients in their homes as necessary.
• Reviewing and authorizing repeat prescriptions.
• Addressing patient queries and managing associated paperwork.
• Participating in the duty doctor rota.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

• Qualified General Practitioner.
• Current GMC full registration.
• Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent.
• Membership in a recognized defense union.
• MRCGP certification.
• Active participation on a performers list.
• No history of removal from a performers list for negative reasons.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of evidence-based practice and clinical effectiveness.

Desirable Qualifications

• Evidence of recent self-directed learning or development.
• Additional qualifications such as DRCOG, DFP, DCH, IUD fitting, and Implanon fitting and removal.
• Knowledge of current issues in primary care and the NHS.
