Job Title: Education Welfare Officer

Aspire People is recruiting for an experienced school administrator to join our team in Peterborough.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled Attendance Officer to complete daily attendance tasks, including:

  1. Inputting attendance data and investigating any missing information, ensuring accurate records.
  2. Updating the electronic registration system daily, resolving any discrepancies with class teachers.
  3. Recording student absences and late arrivals on SIMS, maintaining accurate attendance records.
  4. Initialising enquiries with parents/carers regarding unexplained absences/lateness.
  5. Monitoring student attendance, referring concerns to Pastoral Leaders.
  6. Promoting good attendance within the school.
  7. Processing and acting on student holiday requests.
  8. Issuing routine correspondence to parents/carers regarding attendance/absence requests.
  9. Assisting Assistant Headteachers with administration of referrals to the education welfare service/issuing of penalty notices.
  10. Liaising with external agencies regarding attendance.
  11. Collating attendance data, producing routine reports and statistical returns.
  12. Complying with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, and security.
  13. Representing MGGS at Attendance Officers meetings.
  14. Liaising with Heads of Study and Assistant Headteachers over attendance concerns.
  15. Identifying attendance issues and patterns of absence/late arrivals.
  16. Contacting parents over all aspects of attendance.
  17. Producing attendance reports for Heads of Study.
  18. Liaising with external agencies over persistent absence or other attendance issues.
  19. Attending meetings with external agencies and parents as required.
  20. Completing administration tasks as directed by the line manager.
