Position Overview: We are looking for a committed and empathetic Special Needs Support Assistant to become part of our Ofsted rated good primary institution.

Role Purpose: This is a fulfilling role that allows you to significantly influence the educational journey of students with special educational needs, aiding in their holistic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized or small group assistance to students with special educational needs, ensuring they can engage with the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
  • Work in partnership with the classroom educator to execute Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and modify instructional materials to cater to the distinct requirements of each student.
  • Encourage a supportive and inclusive educational atmosphere, fostering a sense of belonging among all students.
  • Assist in evaluating students' progress and contribute to the formulation of EHCPs.
  • Support students in acquiring essential life skills and promoting their independence.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, educators, and other professionals involved in the care and education of students with special educational needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possession of relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with students with special educational needs, ideally within an educational environment.
  • Awareness of various special educational needs, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and speech and language challenges.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a sincere enthusiasm for supporting the educational advancement of students with special needs.
