Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will oversee the design, development, integration, and testing of electrical systems within the powertrain and aircraft. Proficiency in high voltage (VDC) electrical systems and familiarity with safety standards and protocols are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to define electrical system and integration requirements.
  • Design robust and safe electrical systems for high voltage and high power applications.
  • Conduct mechanical and thermal modeling of electrical components.
  • Participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in hardware selection and support the procurement process.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of components.
  • Oversee the assembly and integration of electrical systems into the powertrain and aircraft.
  • Conduct testing and evaluation of electrical hardware.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for overall powertrain and aircraft systems.
  • Manage project work packages, ensuring adherence to budget, risk management, and technical quality.
  • Document progress and report to management.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and safeguard intellectual property.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in electrical systems development.
  • Experience in building and testing high voltage (VDC) electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with FMEA processes for electrical systems.
  • Proficient in designing electrical components, such as busbars.
  • Experience with ECAD tools, such as AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of electrical system simulation software, including MATLAB Simulink.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with electric motors and high voltage batteries.
  • Familiarity with hydrogen fuel cell systems.
  • Knowledge of alternative cable materials, such as aluminum wiring.
  • Understanding of aerospace electrical standards.
  • Experience with experiment control software, like LabView or MATLAB Simulink.
  • Proficiency in mechanical and thermal modeling software, such as ANSYS.
  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
  • Possession of High Voltage handling qualifications.
