Role Overview: In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Ventures Valuations, assisting in the preparation of portfolio valuations and engaging in the collection and analysis of data from portfolio companies. Your contributions will be vital in analyzing the investment track record.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on the performance of portfolio companies after investment, a crucial aspect of our operations.
- Collaborate closely with investment managers to comprehend valuation drivers, investment theses, and overall company performance.
- Work alongside finance and operations teams to generate internal and Limited Partner (LP) reports, Annual Reports, and other essential materials for stakeholder management.
- Support the preparatory tasks for reporting valuations, including gathering internal information, managing model roll forwards, and overseeing the project management process. This includes organizing preliminary and review meetings with stakeholders and documenting minutes from portfolio review meetings.
Valuation Preparation: You will be responsible for preparing individual portfolio company valuations, typically conducted bi-annually, which involves:
- Collating portfolio data and gathering relevant market comparables.
- Building valuation models, including waterfall modeling.
- Drafting valuation papers that include commentary on trading performance, justification for the chosen valuation methodology, and additional insights on triangulation.
- Conducting regular analyses on fund performance and its underlying drivers.
- Preparing various analyses required for marketing and financial reporting.
Qualifications: Valuation experience is essential, preferably gained in a consulting environment, with some experience in portfolio valuations for private equity, venture capital, or alternative investment sectors. Candidates with ACA/ACCA qualifications or CFA charter holders are preferred but not mandatory. A solid understanding of International Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation Guidelines is also beneficial.
