**Job Summary**

Actemium, a leading engineering design and project management company, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fabricator to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication shop, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and assembling metal components using various techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and product specifications to determine build sequence, methods of fabrication, and assemblies.
  • Layout and mark dimensions and reference information on material.
  • Complete weld set-ups and welding using TIG.
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output.
  • Prepare and process materials prior to assembly.
  • Trim, file, grind, and deburr surfaces.
  • Tack welding fabricated parts together.
  • Check products for compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Repair and rework as required.
  • Check welding plant and equipment prior to and after use, highlighting any faults or defects to the Fabrication Shop Supervisor.
  • Ensure production timings are met.
  • Reinstate the work area following engineering activities.
  • Follow company rules and adhere to procedures and Health and Safety standards.

Requirements:

  • Time served welding on fabrications working with mild steel.
  • Experienced in TIG welding with the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Worked on various material gauges, with single and multi-run welds.
  • Other related fitting experience would be advantageous.
  • Competent to work independently from start to project completion.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Time served apprentice.
  • City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3 or BTEC ONC equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 in fabrication and welding/plating and welding.
