Position: Production Engineer

Location: Stockport

Type: Permanent

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum plus excellent company benefits including 25 days of annual leave plus 8 public holidays.

Overview: This is an exceptional opportunity for a proficient Production Engineer to enhance their expertise within a sustainable sector. This pivotal role focuses on developing and executing enhancements to production methodologies while fostering continuous improvement, product quality consistency, and timely delivery across various projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as a proactive engineer, present on the production floor, delivering Manufacturing Engineering solutions to facilitate the assembly process.
  • Formulate prompt and effective practical solutions for build and quality challenges in fabrication and assembly settings.
  • Investigate the feasibility of process automation where suitable, targeting repeatability, efficiency, and quality enhancements.
  • Establish processes to enhance dimensional stability through effective jigging, fixtures, and alignment.
  • Continuously pursue efficiency enhancements that minimize build hours per product.
  • Lead, develop, and execute quality improvement initiatives across the designated area.
  • Instill a customer-centric operational improvement culture on the production floor.

Collaboration: Coordinate cross-functional team efforts to optimize cost performance through capital investment strategies, operational standards, and waste reduction via a culture of continuous improvement grounded in lean principles.

Support: Facilitate and lead structured problem-solving and process enhancement activities. Provide design input for manufacturing during the early phases of new product development. Assist project management in cross-functional tasks necessary for project execution. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety, manufacturing, and quality standards and protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably educated to Bachelor level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Alternatively, HND or an Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Technical skill set developed in intricate engineering environments.
  • Proven track record of manufacturing excellence.
  • Experience in a comparable role within an industrial or technical setting.
  • Experience in complex organizational structures.
  • Planning experience utilizing SAP, ideally with SAP training.
  • Ability to structure BOMs from design to production.
  • Hands-on approach with a flexible mindset.
  • Strong information management and presentation skills.
  • Effective communication skills with commercial and business acumen.
