The Role: Principal Electrical Engineer

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the electrical design and delivery of power distribution projects within the SSE framework across the South. You will work closely with clients, multidisciplinary teams, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as Principal Designer under CDM regulations, providing guidance and support to all stakeholders involved in the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with clients, designers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication, coordination, and compliance with relevant duties.
  • Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate pre-construction phases of projects, identifying and mitigating potential risks related to construction.
  • Gather pre-construction information from clients, assess its adequacy, identify gaps, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage multiple power distribution projects for key clients, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Attend client meetings, conduct Health & Safety site inspections, and prepare comprehensive reports within agreed deadlines.
  • Provide clear, concise, and practical Health & Safety advice, guidance, and coaching to project teams throughout all stages of the project.
  • Collate, prepare, and issue Health & Safety Files to clients.
