Elevation Recruitment Group is pleased to be working with a leading business in the Rail sector to find a Purchasing Manager to lead UK operations across two locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a world-class supplier base to drive competitiveness during tenders and project phases, and achieving the best Total Cost of Ownership.

The Purchasing Manager will oversee indirect purchasing not related to production and ensure that group purchasing methods, rules, processes, and tools are deployed according to the principles of the business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing supplier relationships and guaranteeing smooth delivery from suppliers to avoid material shortages or production disruption
  • Managing purchasing of non-product-related goods and services, including CAPEX
  • Ensuring all non-product-related spend is managed and under control of purchasing
  • Accountable for delivery of cost reduction savings related to non-product categories
  • Managing and monitoring major projects or CAPEX
  • Requiring CIPS or other purchasing certification, with proof of certification
  • Technical purchasing expertise, including cost breakdown analysis, purchasing strategy, and negotiation
  • Degree educated in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain an advantage
  • Flexible with travel throughout the UK between sites and occasionally internationally

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of procurement experience and be able to demonstrate their expertise in purchasing and supply chain management.
