Job Title: Head Chef

Sussex Inns is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement menus that align with our culinary concept and target audience.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks.
  • Manage inventory levels of food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Monitor food and labour costs to meet budgetary constraints and implement strategies to minimize waste and optimize kitchen efficiency.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, vendors, and local producers.
  • Analyse menu performance, profitability, and customer feedback to make data-driven decisions.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
