MLK Education Search is looking for a skilled Psychotherapist to contribute to a therapeutic educational institution in South East, London. This institution employs a holistic therapeutic methodology, where therapists and educators collaborate closely to foster the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic growth of students. The core belief is that emotional and mental well-being is fundamental for effective learning and engagement.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ethical Practice: Conduct therapy sessions ethically, ensuring safety and obtaining necessary consent from guardians and students.
- Program Development: Design and implement engaging therapeutic programs tailored for children, in collaboration with educational staff.
- Progress Monitoring: Prepare and submit termly reports detailing students' progress in both individual and group therapy settings.
- Best Practices: Serve as a model for best practices, including emotion coaching and other therapeutic techniques as outlined in institutional policies.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work professionally with the lead therapist, senior therapy management, and the multidisciplinary team to effectively address the needs of students.
- Family Engagement: Establish and maintain positive relationships with families through regular communication.
- Safety Assurance: Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times.
- Information Collection: Gather essential information regarding students through communication with parents and caregivers, sharing insights with the therapy and teaching teams.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential therapy records.
- Resource Management: Facilitate smooth transitions for students by preparing and implementing necessary resources.
- Individualized Support: Provide tailored therapeutic support to help students access their learning effectively.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with teaching staff and other therapists to create and execute therapy progress plans.
- Parent Involvement: Participate in therapy meetings and relevant professional gatherings.
- Training Sessions: Develop and conduct training sessions for parents and family workshops.
- Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing professional development activities, contributing to the overall ethos and objectives of the institution.
- Supervision: Organize and attend external supervision sessions to enhance therapeutic practices.
- Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all student and institutional information.
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree in a specialized field and full qualification are required. Registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., BACP) is mandatory.
- Experience: Proven experience working with children and adolescents in challenging environments is essential.
- Specialized Knowledge: Extensive experience in your specific therapeutic area is required.
- Language and Numeracy: Proficiency in English and mathematics is necessary.
- Classroom Experience: Experience working in educational settings with children who have special educational needs (SEN) and exhibit challenging behaviors is crucial.
- Additional Credentials: Further qualifications related to therapy, child and adolescent development, SEN, and leadership are advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of therapeutic practices and their applications, as well as knowledge of mental health issues in children, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma, and their effects on development and behavior.
