The Property Recoveries team at DAC Beachcroft is part of our Claims Solutions Group. Our specialist team provides expert and practical advice on a range of areas, including:
- Subrogated property, casualty, and travel recoveries
- Uninsured loss recoveries
- International recoveries
- Recovery of overpayments and duplicate payments
We are currently seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team and contribute to the success of our clients. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of cases, including fast and intermediate track cases, and develop your skills and expertise in recoveries investigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage a full caseload of pre-litigated and litigated files to ensure deadlines are met and cases are managed proactively to conclusion
- Develop and implement clear case strategies to balance the commercial interests of both the firm and the client
- Apply appropriate and current technical expertise and case law to ensure cases are run smoothly and efficiently
- Manage risk and compliance issues within each case, escalating any emerging problems to the line manager
- Engage with clients to maximize opportunities to meet and build rapport, acting as an ambassador for the firm
- Contribute to business development and client relationship activity in support of the account manager
Requirements
- A degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) or Cilex qualification and relevant legal experience
- Interest in and willingness to learn the technical aspects of recoveries investigation
- IT literacy, with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and previous knowledge or experience of a case management system
- Good organization skills, able to work to deadlines, prioritize own workload, and meet conflicting demands
- High standard of written and oral communication skills
- Confident negotiator
- Team-oriented and collegiate, with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team
- Excellent relationship and client-handling skills, able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues
- Ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an 'academic' approach to claims settlement
