Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom AtkinsRéalis Full time
Job Overview

Location: Various locations across the UK.

Are you passionate about managing flood risks and seeking a new challenge? We are in search of experienced flood modellers to enhance our dynamic team, working on impactful projects throughout the UK. If you possess the right expertise, we are eager to discuss how we can support your professional growth.

Recently, we have been appointed as a Delivery Partner for a significant framework aimed at addressing the effects of climate change and flood risks for communities in England. Under this initiative, we will provide essential services such as surveying, mapping, modelling, and incident management to assist the Environment Agency in preparing for climate-related events. This extensive programme is crucial for understanding the implications of climate change and mitigating flood risks to communities, including the necessary responses to support those affected by flooding.

Due to the commitment to this and other vital projects, we have openings across the UK for motivated and ambitious professionals in a primarily technical field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and contribute to hydraulic and hydrological modelling initiatives.
  • Conduct detailed technical analyses, including GIS and reporting, ensuring quality assurance for all deliverables.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate effectively with environmental scientists, engineers, and planners to provide integrated services to clients.
  • Support business development efforts, including project tendering and stakeholder engagement.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in flood risk assessment, particularly in hydraulic modelling.
  • Proficiency in 1D and 2D modelling tools such as Infoworks ICM, Flood Modeller, TUFLOW/ESTRY, or HEC-RAS.
  • Experience with GIS applications like ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make informed decisions based on data.
Personal Attributes:
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to achieving technical excellence.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Adaptable and open to new challenges.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail, maintaining high standards in all work.
Professional Development:

We are dedicated to nurturing talent through a comprehensive training and development programme tailored to enhance your skills and career trajectory. We support our team members in achieving and maintaining professional qualifications, offering mentorship and development opportunities.

As part of our commitment to a flexible working environment, we provide options that cater to your personal and professional needs, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. We encourage discussions around flexible working arrangements during the recruitment process.
