Hours: 21 hours per week, 3 days per week, inclusive of weekends and bank holidays, and is subject to rota requirements.

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £31,610 (pro rata) per annum rising incrementally to £32,850 (pro rata) per annum

The Tolpuddle Martyrs Museum, shop and festival commemorates the six farm workers who, in 1834, were punished for joining a union and later freed after a successful campaign. As a Shop and Museum Curatorial Assistant, you will play a key role in maintaining the museum's collections, managing the shop, and contributing to the festival's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the acquisition, cataloging, and conservation of museum collections
  • Manage the shop, including stock control, pricing, and customer service
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of the festival, including event management and marketing
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer queries
  • Work collaboratively with the museum team to achieve goals and objectives

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic knowledge of museum collections and conservation practices
  • Experience in retail or customer-facing roles
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays
