Job Title: Specialist Autism Support Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Autism Support Officer to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Specialist Autism Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs.

About the Role:

This is a temporary position, with the option to become permanent in the future. As a Specialist Autism Support Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring pupils are engaging in all sessions, assisting with personal care tasks as needed, and planning and implementing appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils. You will also be required to take part in relevant training and courses as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Enhanced DBS and registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Understanding of the development needs of children and those with disability/challenging behaviour

We are looking for an individual with experience working with autism, a positive attitude, and the ability to build rapport with both pupils and staff members. Any additional training courses, such as manual handling and first aid, are advantageous and may open doors for new opportunities within the school.
