Job Description

Job Title: Trading Standards Officer - Consumer Protection Specialist

Job Summary:

Lambeth Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trading Standards Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Consumer Protection team, you will play a vital role in enforcing consumer protection laws and regulations, ensuring a safe and fair trading environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in specialist fields of work, including consumer protection, trading standards, and regulatory enforcement.
  • Undertake proactive Trading Standards criminal investigations and formal enforcement work, including investigating complaints.
  • Advise businesses and community groups on the requirements of Trading Standards legislation.
  • Undertake joint working with other internal services and external enforcement agencies.
  • Utilize a variety of software packages, including IDB and UNIFORM.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of enforcing consumer protection laws and regulations.
  • High level of professional expertise in consumer protection and regulatory enforcement.
  • Ability to lead in specialist fields of work and undertake proactive investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
