Vantage Consulting Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Commissioning and Service Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of bulk materials handling systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Installation and commissioning of bulk materials handling systems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
- Setting up a safe working environment and acting as principal contractor on large installations, adhering to CDM regulations.
- Managing sub-contract and 3rd party labour in the installation of silos, machines, and plant cabling.
- Preparing training documentation and presenting customer/end user training.
- Day-to-day management of assigned commissioning engineers.
- Liaising with customers to organize site visits, writing risk assessments and method statements, and organizing tools and equipment from hire companies.
- Attending site or via remote connection, telephone, or email for emergency call-out work, including weekend work and out-of-hours work by agreement.
- Writing professional reports for site visits, including photographs, site data, equipment performance reports, and calibration certificates.
- Promoting business opportunities between customers and the company, including plant/process extensions, upgrades, and spares sales.
- Supporting sales staff with time, resources, and material estimates and installation and commissioning plans for proposals.
- Supporting the Engineering Manager and/or Project Manager with reporting and accurate estimation of timescales and requirements.
- Apprenticeship/HND or degree preferred.
- 10 years' experience of installation and commission of equipment in an industrial environment.
- Experience in industry holding a supervisory position.
- Experience of working under CDM regulations, ideally as principal contractor.
- In-depth knowledge of weighing principles, Lean phase, dense phase, and vacuum conveying systems.
- Capable of working for long hours under pressure.
- PLC/SCADA/database skills/knowledge would be an advantage.
- Ability to suggest mechanical/electrical/software changes to improve the design and function of the equipment.
- Ability to fault find/trouble shoot across all aspects of a customer's installation.
- Understanding of basic commercial issues.
- Taking pride in doing a good job.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Project.
- Accurate in estimation of timescales for own and others' work within a project.
- Present a professional approach when interfacing with customers directly.
- Experience of working in foreign countries would be an advantage.
