Mechanical Engineer Lead

The Role:- Lead a team of engineers and designers in Mechanical and Piping (M&P) design within multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects.
- Act as the technical authority for the M&P discipline, supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets.
- Manage projects predominantly in the UK, with the possibility of working on projects for Europe and other areas of the Bilfinger business.
- Be client-facing and manage client expectations regarding project scope.
- Ensure the quality of M&P engineering and design.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews and be responsible for design acceptance by the client.
- Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within M&P Engineering.
- Lead projects in a multi-discipline environment, coordinating M&P engineering and design with other disciplines.
- Effectively carry out, check, and approve Engineering and Design estimates, control, and report all costs on allocated projects.
- Experience as a technical authority or line manager for an engineering organization.
- Deep knowledge of M&P engineering and design, with a sound understanding of other disciplines.
- MEng/BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (preferred).
- Experience with producing mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules.
- Experience with applying piping design codes to ASME and BS EN standards.
- Result-oriented, with a focus on delivering top-quality designs and satisfying clients.
- Ability to plan and organize activities, understanding dependencies within the M&P discipline and between disciplines.
- Appreciation for main M&P design packages, including AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, and Caesar II.
- Ability to delegate tasks, intervene when necessary, and implement a solid change control procedure.
- Leadership and motivation skills to achieve targets, even in challenging situations.
- Ability to chair design review meetings and teach/coach young engineers and designers.
