The Role:
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers in Mechanical and Piping (M&P) design within multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects.
  • Act as the technical authority for the M&P discipline, supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets.
  • Manage projects in the UK, Europe, and potentially wider areas of the Bilfinger business areas.
  • Client-facing and responsible for managing client expectations in relation to project scope.
  • Responsible for the quality of M&P engineering and design.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews and responsible for design acceptance by the client.
  • Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within M&P Engineering.
  • Lead projects in a multi-discipline environment and coordinate all M&P engineering and design with other disciplines.
  • Effectively carry out, check, and approve Engineering and Design estimates, control, and report all costs on allocated projects.
Your Profile:
  • Experience as a technical authority or line manager for an engineering organization.
  • Deep knowledge of M&P engineering and design, with a sound knowledge of other disciplines.
  • MEng/BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (preferred).
  • Experienced in producing mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings, and schedules.
  • Experience with piping design codes to ASME and BS EN standards.
  • Result-oriented, with a focus on delivering top-quality designs and client satisfaction.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with an understanding of dependencies within the M&P discipline and between disciplines.
  • Appreciation of main M&P design packages, including AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, and Caesar II.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and intervene when necessary, with a solid change control procedure in place.
  • Leadership and motivational skills to achieve targets, even in challenging situations.
  • Ability to chair design review meetings and teach/coach young generation M&P engineers and designers.
