The Agile Release Train Engineer will play a pivotal role in facilitating Agile Release Train (ART) practices and Program Increment (PI) execution. This position involves escalating obstacles, managing risks, and ensuring the delivery of value while fostering continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and enhance the flow of value through an Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Manage the execution schedule and plan software/architecture releases for the program.
  • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness by promoting a Continuous Exploration process that synthesizes a Vision, Roadmap, and Backlogs, along with Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings.
  • Encourage cross-team collaboration within the program through Scrum of Scrums meetings and other informal forums to support development, testing, and deployment efforts.
  • Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and ensure visibility and transparency.
  • Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities through metrics across the program's Agile and DevOps teams.
  • Communicate development progress to customers throughout the PI cycle and report on testing, deployment, and release readiness.
  • Gain an understanding of the complex software system and assess risks while recognizing diverse customer needs.
  • Coach teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Project/Program Leaders in Agile methodologies.
  • Promote teamwork to achieve PI goals.
  • Lead teams towards Agile maturity.
  • Identify and escalate impediments.
  • Provide input on resource allocation to address critical bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with the contractor Program Management Office (PMO) on program execution.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in supervising or leading teams or projects.
  • Familiarity with large software systems, including hardware integration and testing.
  • Ability to comprehend technical concepts and convey them effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across diverse systems and groups.
  • Experience working with an Agile software development team, managing project deadlines (ideally in a Scrum Master or Development role).
  • Experience briefing leadership and/or customers on key project status updates.
  • Experience communicating with and briefing external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
  • Proficiency in using Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, VersionOne, Rally, IBM ELM).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to identify when issues need to be discussed or prioritized.
  • Attention to detail, as task completion is critical.

  • Clearance to Start: SC
  • Clearance for the Role: DV
  • Willingness to undergo DV clearance and maintain this level, depending on the security requirements for the role.
