Position Overview

Deputy Ward Manager - Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shifts: Various - Days, Nights, and Weekends

An exceptional opportunity exists for a Deputy Ward Manager to take on a pivotal role within our Acute Medical Unit (AMU), which comprises 49 beds. Our unit is unique in that we receive patients directly from the Emergency Department and SDEC, ensuring that all emergency admissions receive prompt and high-quality care from the moment they arrive.

Our AMU stands out by offering a comprehensive range of services, including advanced care for critically ill patients, management of cardiac monitoring systems, BiPaP therapy, and chest drain procedures, supported by a dedicated Practice Development Nurse Team.

Working in acute medicine is both dynamic and demanding, providing exposure to a wide array of patient conditions, ensuring that no two days are alike.

It is crucial for candidates to possess a solid understanding of patient flow and its influence on the hospital's daily operations and overall patient experience. You will be responsible for upholding high standards of care for service users while providing guidance, supervision, and educational support to all team members.

Key Responsibilities

As a seasoned Nurse, you will engage clinically as part of the Nursing Team, offering clinical guidance, expertise, and leadership to all staff members in collaboration with the Ward Managers. You will also be expected to step in for the Ward Manager during their absence, ensuring that a positive patient experience is maintained through the consistent delivery of high-quality care.
