Business Intelligence and Financial Reporting Manager

Main Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to join our growing commercial and finance team at GB News. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the business and working closely with the editorial, production, and management teams to ensure business-facing projects, budgeting, cost control projects, and forecast management cycles are run effectively and produce high-quality outputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly consolidated reporting packs with detailed commentary and variance analysis (consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash flow).
  • Develop and maintain financial and business models, including forecasting and scenario testing.
  • Support financial planning, budgeting cycles, and cost control initiatives.
  • Provide ad hoc and regular reporting and business evaluation to support business decision-making.
  • Conduct deep dive analyses of key focus areas and projects to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure business performance.
  • Support the development of business cases and implementation plans.
  • Prepare presentation materials and memoranda to communicate financial and business information to stakeholders.
  • Provide executive support and assist with project management to drive projects forward.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of key accounting concepts, including accruals, prepayments, asset capitalization, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience with financial planning, modeling, and analysis.
  • Experience with budgeting and re-forecasting exercises.
  • Ability to query and manipulate large datasets for evaluation and visualization.
  • Project management and team management experience.
  • Process flow mapping and documenting business processes and requirements.
  • Strong data interpretation skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Numerical, pricing, and price compliance skills.
  • Diplomacy, discretion, and tact, particularly when dealing with confidential information.
  • Motivation to develop and maintain strong senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite tools, including Power BI.

Working Arrangements

  • Based in our Central London office, working five days a week.
  • Management of one direct report (Decision Support Analyst).
