Key Responsibilities

What will you be doing?
As part of a substantial investment initiative, Dechra Skipton is expanding its Quality Control Team to support the introduction of advanced granulation technology. This expansion necessitates the validation of all tablet and capsule processes along with associated stability assessments within a condensed timeframe.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team to achieve project milestones within designated timelines.
  • Mentoring and guiding team members to enhance their skill sets.
  • Evaluating specifications to eliminate unnecessary tests from the final product specifications.
  • Redesigning tests for improved efficiency, facilitating the testing of a higher volume of samples simultaneously.
  • Updating tests to utilize more advanced equipment.
  • Composing development protocols and comprehensive reports.
  • Conducting validation and verification processes, including the creation of relevant protocols and reports.
  • Submitting revised testing protocols to regulatory bodies with appropriate justification.
  • Overseeing updates to methods, specifications, and testing records within Quality Control.
  • Leading change control initiatives.
  • Applying technical expertise to train and mentor project analysts in alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborating with various departments including MS&T, QC Support, Regulatory, and QA.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in Quality Control for Method Development across various analytical techniques.
  • Performing laboratory investigations and addressing protocol deviations while providing technical support for complex methodologies.
  • Drafting Risk Assessments for processes and systems to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively, including implementing corrective and preventive actions when necessary.
  • Upholding and promoting the company's core values in all interactions.
  • Enhancing practices and fostering a culture aligned with cGMP, cGLP, and Health & Safety standards within a pharmaceutical laboratory setting.
  • Additionally, you may be required to undertake other tasks as needed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

What qualifications should you possess?
We seek individuals who can provide mentorship to QC Project Analysts and offer expertise in Method Development. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the QC function and the broader organization.

The following qualifications will be advantageous:

  • A minimum of HNC/D level education in a relevant scientific discipline or substantial job-specific experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in method development within a pharmaceutical GMP environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP regulations applicable to products produced, tested, and marketed in the UK, EU, and US.
  • Understanding of specification development.
  • Proficiency in computer usage, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to influence and problem-solve effectively.
  • Pragmatic approach with meticulous attention to detail.

Due to the nature of our operations, successful candidates will be required to undergo a basic DBS check prior to employment and periodically thereafter, with costs covered by Dechra.
