Brief Job Description

As a Section Leader, you'll direct and inspire the success of a team involved in everything from inspection and faulting, through to maintenance and renewal. You'll establish appropriate safety arrangements and make sure Network Rail staff and contractors alike follow safe systems of work. Proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your people, you'll see to it that assets are fully compliant and all vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials are fit for purpose.

You'll play a hands-on role, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest standards. You'll be responsible for organizing and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work, and will have excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and inspire the success of a team involved in inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate safety arrangements.
  • Proactively control and check the quality of work and the competence of team members.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Organize and control the safe and efficient delivery of work.
  • Develop and maintain excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing.
Requirements

We're looking for someone with experience of organizing and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work. You'll need excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing, and knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques.

You'll also need knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions, and a clear and inspirational leadership style. A strong sense of direction and the ability to motivate and inspire a team are essential.
