Position Overview

We are looking for a committed and experienced Clinical Oncology Specialist Pharmacist to become a vital member of our innovative team. The ideal candidate will assist the Lead Oncology Pharmacist in managing daily operations within the Oncology department, play a key role in the training and growth of the team, and ensure adherence to best practices in patient care. This position requires effective collaboration with the Oncology team to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

Qualifications, Training & Experience:

  • Experience in Oncology ward settings.
  • Expertise in clinically reviewing Oncology SACT prescriptions.
  • Participation in chemotherapy ordering processes.
  • Proficiency in utilizing and managing electronic prescribing systems for Oncology patients (e.g., iQemo).
  • Preferably, a postgraduate qualification focused on Oncology.
  • Evidence of training with BOPA, such as the SACT Passport, is advantageous.
  • Experience in clinical decision-making.
  • Background in training and enhancing the skills of pharmacy team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and specialized guidance for patient care.
  • Conduct clinical verification of prescriptions in accordance with GPhC & BOPA standards.
  • Deliver timely, expert clinical counsel to medical and nursing personnel.
  • Support ongoing enhancements within Central Pharmacy operations.
  • Collaborate with external departments to ensure efficient and safe patient care, fostering a unified team approach.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized facility, ensuring proper training and assessment of colleagues.
  • Contribute to business initiatives and Key Value Drivers.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new business and patients; develop new prescription templates.
  • Address departmental inquiries and prescription issues promptly.
  • Work cross-functionally to uphold consistent service levels.
  • Create training materials and provide operational and clinical education.
  • Develop and maintain templates for electronic prescribing systems.
  • Engage in departmental audits.
  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and effective workplace environment.
