About the Role

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heritage Development Director to join our client's team. As an Associate Director, you will play a key role in driving the heritage team forward and contributing to the growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on a number of projects from initial scoping advice to the submission of applications for planning permission and listed building consent.
  • Work closely with colleagues and clients to manage schemes from early-design stages to completion.
  • Provide expert advice on how to develop with heritage assets sustainably.
  • Assess the significance and setting of heritage assets and provide written reports.
  • Engage with colleagues, clients, and the general public in a variety of environments.

Requirements

  • Degree and/or post-graduate qualification in conservation, heritage, or a related field.
  • Strong technical background relating to historic buildings and areas, including designated and non-designated heritage assets.
  • Experience of providing expert advice on heritage development.
  • Knowledge of architectural history and technical awareness of different building typologies.
  • Understanding of the legislative and policy framework for the historic environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
