Apprentice Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding project team at AMG Chrome, a customer-focused, technology-driven organisation dedicated to innovation, quality, technical expertise, and rapid response to customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to reducing plant downtime and improving plant performance and reliability by identifying and implementing engineering solutions.
  • Assist in all technical aspects of project work, from process improvements to capital installations.
  • Produce clear and accurate designs in line with project specifications, budget constraints, and associated standards, job-specific and per legislation.
  • Ensure designs are completed to the required standard within the project timescale.
  • Interact and liaise with inter-departments, communicating efficient and accurate design information.
  • Provide assistance with managing external contractors, ensuring all aspects of a project are communicated, including H&S, site/working practices, etc.

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND or above in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Use of SolidWorks, with knowledge of AutoCAD (desirable).
  • Will ideally come from an Engineering background and will be fully proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of structural, steelwork, and fabrication is advantageous.
  • Experience on a range of plant machines, such as cranes, crushers, and conveyors, is desirable.
  • Computer literacy is essential, with proficiency in MS Office and CAD tools, ideally SolidWorks.
