Role Overview
This position entails collaborating with the Risk Assessment & Business Protection Team to ensure adherence to financial crime and sanctions risk evaluations for clients and matters across all operational offices of the firm. The role also encompasses maintaining compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing obligations on a global scale, while protecting the integrity of the firm.
The responsibilities include contributing to strategic planning within the team, supporting professional growth, and overseeing risk evaluations and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Routine Operations:
- Ensure alignment with regulatory standards and internal protocols.
- Address components of AML/ABC compliance policies, recommend process enhancements, and deliver training.
- Investigate information sources and databases for client verification.
- Document client details in the Risk Assessment Database.
- Draft written risk evaluations and escalate to management as needed.
- Provide legal insights and clarifications to partners and clients.
- Regularly update client information and monitor associated risks.
- Manage urgent inquiries and offer legal counsel on risks.
- Guarantee compliance with AML regulations across various jurisdictions.
- Consolidate global suppliers within the TPRM platform and assess data security.
Mentorship & Quality Control:
- Evaluate the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare junior staff for risk assessment duties.
- Serve as a quality control resource for the team's outputs.
- Facilitate training sessions and mentor junior colleagues.
Project Involvement and Control Functions:
- Engage in live projects alongside senior team members.
- Propose and lead project implementations as necessary.
- Guide and direct team members on various projects.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of years' experience in Anti-Money Laundering within professional or financial services.
- Familiarity with AML/CTF obligations.
- Degree in Law, Risk Management, Business, Politics, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and research capabilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Comprehend policy and legislation across different jurisdictions.
- Exhibit sound judgment and a curious mindset.
- Collaborative team player with diplomatic abilities.
- Adaptable and flexible in response to new challenges and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Understanding of international sanctions regulations.
- Experience in mentoring roles.
