Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Specialist Midwife to join our team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Public Health agenda within the maternity service, working closely with mothers-to-be to improve their health and the health of their unborn child.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective care pathways to improve health outcomes for women with modifiable risk factors such as smoking, obesity, and breastfeeding.
  • Collaborate with the Consultant Midwife and specialist midwives to identify areas for public health input and develop strategies for deployment.
  • Lead conversations with women and families to promote weight management during pregnancy and refer to appropriate services.
  • Revise and refresh the immunisation strategy and communicate with NHSE validated data as part of monthly returns.
  • Plan and implement training on maternity public health issues and provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to colleagues.
Requirements
  • Current NMC midwifery registration.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Awareness of local and national policies and strategies in Public Health and Maternity.
Experience
  • Recent experience in all areas of Maternity Services, including substantial experience of Public Health Promotion.
  • Evidence of leading or participating in an audit programme.
  • Experience of leading QI projects.
