Lead Theatre Practitioner

Job Summary:
Xander Medical is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Theatre Practitioner to join our team in Welwyn Garden City. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for the operational management of our theatres, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the initial theatre set up and ensure efficient processes are in place to meet national guidelines.
- Liaise with consultant partners and support office teams to ensure theatre readiness.
- Implement and maintain a consistent approach to infection prevention, resuscitation, and medication management.
- Provide professional and clinical leadership to a mixed skillset theatre team.
- Coordinate the operational management of the theatre on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure safe staffing levels and equipment are maintained for every theatre list.
- Communicate effectively with clinical and senior management teams to foster a patient-centered environment.
- Support the Operations Director in providing ongoing clinical oversight.
- Ensure correct processes are undertaken in adherence with clinical governance and patient safety incident response framework.
- Maintain your own continuous professional development and source development opportunities for clinical team members.
- Participate in local and operational meetings, and host team meetings to cascade relevant information.
Requirements:
- Hold a current Nursing or Operating Department Practice degree or diploma.
- Be registered with the NMC or HCPC.
- Have previous and recent extensive ophthalmic scrub experience.
- Have previous experience as an ophthalmic theatre manager or lead.
- Be comfortable with Microsoft Office products and computerized systems.
