Commissioning Engineer

This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on the challenge of working with automation, electro/mechanical, and data acquisition systems in turnkey projects for the automotive test industry. No two projects are the same, offering the opportunity to deliver solutions in cutting-edge automotive and industrial environments.
We are open to a range of experience levels, from graduates to seasoned professionals, with appropriate training provided.
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Overtime & Car Allowance
Key Responsibilities:- Inspect and fault-find on bespoke, one-off electrical system installations on-site.
- Calibrate and set up electronic data acquisition, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Set up and perform PID tuning of standard automotive control loops.
- Configure automation software to suit specific channels and interface components.
- Create/modify system configurations and software to achieve a range of functionalities.
- Integrate third-party hardware such as inverter drives, fuel systems, safety systems, and analyzers into test cells and facilities.
- Develop automation sequences using standard automation software tools.
- Follow commissioning steps and checks to ensure system functionality.
- Collaborate with commissioning and site managers to produce time schedules.
- Provide initial customer training on system operation.
- Solid electrical understanding, including the ability to follow drawings and diagnose issues.
- Ideally possesses a degree in engineering or a relevant electrical qualification.
- Basic knowledge of programming/software development, ideally in C# or Visual Basic, with an eagerness to develop industrial programming skills.
- Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to apply engineering principles to real-life problems.
- Understanding of the automotive industry (engines, battery tech, powertrains, etc.).
- Willingness to work away from home during the working week, with occasional overseas trips (up to 28 days).
- Capable of spending nights away per year; 80% site-based role, with 2-3 overseas trips per year (2-4 weeks each).
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and computers.
- Holds a full UK driving license, with the ability to secure business insurance.
