We are looking for a committed and empathetic Support Assistant for Student Behaviour to become part of a lively secondary educational institution. This full-time role provides a unique chance to positively impact the lives of students needing extra behavioural and emotional assistance. You will collaborate closely with educators, pastoral teams, and fellow support staff to foster a welcoming and inclusive educational atmosphere for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized and small group assistance to students facing behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Support classroom educators in maintaining classroom discipline and encouraging a constructive learning environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students to cultivate trust and promote positive behaviour.
  • Track and report on student development, including any shifts in behaviour or engagement.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to devise and execute strategies addressing students' behavioural and emotional requirements.
  • Engage in training and professional growth opportunities to enhance your skills and effectiveness in this position.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational context.
  • A solid understanding of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to maintain composure in challenging circumstances.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young individuals.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to adjust to the needs of individual students and the broader educational environment.
  • An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Qualifications related to education, childcare, or special educational needs.
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour interventions.
