London, Greater London, United Kingdom Financial Ombudsman Full time
Job Title: Senior Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to join our team at the Financial Ombudsman Service. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading complex projects that deliver strategic organisational goals, often in an uncertain or fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, controlling, and reporting activities for strategic, high-impact, high-risk projects.
  • Plan and drive the delivery of projects in accordance with our frameworks and standards, selecting appropriate delivery techniques and models based on the context of the project.
  • Work with sponsors, finance, the PMO, and other key stakeholders to develop, gain approval, and monitor compelling business cases for your projects, taking swift action where costs, benefits, or risk exceed agreed tolerances.
  • Monitor time, cost, quality, and resources used, taking proactive action where performance or quality deviates from agreed tolerances.
  • Ensure accurate scoping of projects and work with stakeholders to identify and secure the resources needed for successful delivery.
  • Establish cross-functional project teams and foster a highly collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure strong governance is in place to enable timely decisions to be made and provide confidence that the project will deliver what's needed.
  • Identify, plan, and request any resources required for your projects in good time, ensuring that where constraints exist there is sufficient time to source additional resource or work through prioritisation processes.
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies – communicating across teams where there is a wider impact.
  • Expertly manage your project forecast against approved budget with clear, phased forecasts, prompt accruals, and proactive analysis & response to any variances.
  • Report effective, accurate, and timely performance data, both quantitative and qualitative, for your projects, including the budget and timescales.
Requirements:
  • Extensive and diverse experience of successfully delivering complex projects to achieve strategic organisational goals, often in an uncertain or fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibly and pragmatically apply project management disciplines with minimum bureaucracy to unlock business change.
  • Apply analytical and facilitation skills to find solutions to unblock a project, and move forwards, when the way forward isn't clear.
  • Lead, influence, and drive change by rallying others behind your plan – motivating your project team to collectively deliver goals.
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills both within your project teams, with the Executive, and the wider organisation.
  • Hold a recognised industry qualification such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile PM, or APMI Change Management or equivalent.
  • Detailed project planning using recognised project management tools.
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously, managing conflicting priorities and interdependencies.
