We are seeking an experienced Asbestos Management Specialist to join our Estates and Facilities team at Durham University. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe management of asbestos-containing materials across our campuses.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support and guidance on asbestos management to colleagues and stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and implementation of our Asbestos Management Plan
- Monitor and analyze asbestos management information to ensure data accuracy and provide reports and analysis of patterns and trends
- Utilize IT systems to manage asbestos records and assist in the production of key compliance reporting
- Assist with audits of contractor performance and systems, identifying areas of non-compliance and best practice
- Respond to asbestos-related queries and provide information and advice
- Process requests for asbestos surveys and analytical works, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed and relevant records are filed accurately
- Support the use of technology to meet security and safety requirements
- Prepare safety documents and risk assessments relating to activities across the estate
- Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience
- Management of Asbestos in Buildings (BOHS P405) or willingness to work toward obtaining qualification
- Professional practitioner with knowledge and experience in an estates or construction environment
- Experience of working within a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services
- Experience of contributing to the delivery of estates or construction-related services
- Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues
- Experience of managing time to meet deadlines
- Previous experience of asbestos management
- BOHS P402, P403, P404 or equivalent
- Experience of dealing with contractors
- CSCS Card
- SMSTS or equivalent
