At Warburtons, we're committed to reducing our environmental footprint and creating a sustainable future. As a key member of our Project Engineering team, you'll play a vital role in driving our 5-year energy and carbon reduction strategy.

The Role
  • Lead the delivery of sustainability-focused projects across our UK bakery and depot network, ensuring timely, budget-friendly, and high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and lower carbon emissions.
  • Develop and manage relationships with 3rd party vendors to support project delivery and nationwide maintenance.
  • Identify, manage, and deliver key sustainability projects, including the installation of new oven technology, upgrading control systems, and integrating renewable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Align projects with corporate sustainability objectives and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and sustainability certifications.
  • Work closely with site leadership and engineering managers to ensure smooth project execution and awareness of technology improvements.
  • Negotiate and purchase items of machinery for major projects, ensuring a return on investment.
  • Support the identification and implementation of a new Energy Management System.
Requirements
  • Proven project management experience within engineering, with a strong electrical or mechanical engineering background.
  • Ability to drive performance and energy cost savings through data analysis and identify energy efficiencies and carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and establish credibility with internal and external contacts.
  • Budget creation and management experience, ensuring a return on investment.
  • Health & Safety/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge, ensuring a safe working environment.
