About the Role

The Mental Health Inpatient Occupational Therapy Hub are looking for a motivated and compassionate part-time Specialist Occupational Therapist (OT) to work on our Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). PICU is a ten-bedded, mixed sex, Psychiatric Intensive Care service which is offered to service users who are detained and require mental health treatment.

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting service users on their recovery journey. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users' needs, strengths, and challenges related to their mental health and daily living skills.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote recovery, independence, and well-being.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including group therapy, individual sessions, and skill-building activities.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for service users.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of service users' progress and interventions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to person-centered care.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working with service users in a psychiatric intensive care unit.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice in mental health occupational therapy.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development.
