Role Overview:

We are seeking a Climate Policy Intern to join our Climate and Planning Unit. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a degree or those who have recently completed a relevant qualification. The intern will adopt a proactive and innovative approach to support pre-application discussions, local planning policy development, and major project proposals.

As part of this role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that new developments align with national and local climate action objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research and analysis to provide evidence-based recommendations on climate-related policies.
  • Delivering high-quality project outputs across diverse climate policy areas and tailoring presentations for specific audiences.
  • Utilizing quantitative and qualitative data to identify challenges and propose solutions for the built environment.
  • Collaborating with technical and policy teams to develop strategic initiatives.
  • Supporting key meetings and events related to climate action.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum educational qualifications at RQF level 2 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • Relevant fields of study include Environmental Policy, Climate Change, and Geography.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • A strong interest in low carbon initiatives, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices.
  • Ability to establish effective collaborative relationships.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a professional setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as comprehensive training will be provided.
