Job Title: Director of Risk

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our flood risk management team. As the Director of Risk, you will play a key role in shaping the growth of our flood risk services and overseeing the planning, design, and implementation of flood risk management projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead a team of engineers and technical staff to deliver flood risk management projects.
  2. Provide expert technical guidance on flood risk assessments, modelling, and mitigation.
  3. Review and approve technical reports, models, and analyses.
  4. Oversee flood risk projects from planning through to execution.
  5. Develop and implement effective flood mitigation strategies, including sustainable surface and foul water drainage designs.
  6. Develop and manage resources and budgets for flood risk projects and initiatives.
  7. Lead the organisation's response to flood emergencies, coordinating with emergency services and other agencies.
Key Skills and Experience:
  1. Chartered status with ICE, CIWEM or similar professional body.
  2. 10 years of experience in flood risk management with 5 years in a leadership role.
  3. Proven ability of business development.
  4. Excellent project management and organisational abilities.
  5. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  6. In-depth knowledge of flood risk assessment and modelling techniques.
  7. Proficiency in relevant software and tools, i.e.: HEC-RAS, GIS, WinDES Micro Drainage/ Infoworks / Causeway or equivalent software packages, ArcGIS and AutoCAD applications, 3D earthworks modelling using PDS or similar, WINFAP-FEH and Flood Modeller software packages.
