Position Overview:
Ultra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to enhance our Engineering Function. This pivotal role entails overseeing the allocation and management of personnel resources for development and support initiatives within the engineering sector. Collaborating with fellow Senior Engineering Managers (SEMs) and guided by the Head of Engineering, you will assemble a qualified and experienced team to fulfill the measurable demands of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage risks effectively while providing technical insights to assist the Director of Engineering Development in meeting project requirements.
- Support internal and external stakeholders in bids, operations, and customer engagements as necessary.
- Ensure the achievement of On Time In Full (OTIF) metrics as established by the VP Engineering.
- Build and nurture relationships with both new and existing clients, ensuring that all technical solutions align with project scopes and specifications.
- Oversee engineering bid estimates, including Non-Recurring Costs (NRC) and schedules.
- Address technical risks and opportunities, ensuring product quality meets internal and external standards.
- Lead a specialist Engineering Team, ensuring they are adequately resourced to deliver on bids and projects.
- Promote design consistency and reusability across engineering solutions.
Collaboration and Strategy:
In this role, you will work closely with other Senior Engineering Managers across various disciplines, Heads of Departments, the Senior Leadership Team, and the Chief Technology Officer to formulate strategic plans aimed at business growth, addressing both short-term and long-term objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in engineering or a related field; MBA is advantageous.
- Preferred Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification.
- At least 10 years of experience in design, development, and manufacturing settings.
- Proven track record in managing Project Managers and engineers.
- Experience in commercial negotiations and dealings with Defence and Major Prime Contractors.
- Strong communication, leadership, and delegation skills.
- Proficient in budget management and financial analysis.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance, with potential for DV clearance.
