The Role: We are in search of a caring and committed Special Educational Needs Support Assistant to become part of our team. In this full-time position, you will collaborate closely with students who have special educational needs (SEN) across our secondary school and further education centre. Your contribution will be crucial in aiding these students in their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and small group assistance to students with SEN, ensuring they can effectively engage with the curriculum.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other tailored learning strategies.
  • Collaborate with educators, SEN Coordinators, and other professionals to cultivate an inclusive educational environment.
  • Support students in their social and emotional development, fostering confidence and independence.
  • Modify teaching resources and approaches to accommodate the diverse needs of students.
  • Track and report on student progress, offering feedback to educators and parents as necessary.
  • Contribute positively to the overall ethos of the school and further education centre.

About You:

  • Experience working with students with SEN is essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young individuals and assisting them in achieving their potential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to working with students with varying needs.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A commitment to professional growth and a willingness to participate in ongoing training.
