Head Brewer Job Description

Rapscallion Soda is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Brewer to lead our production team. As the head of our production process, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Leadership: Oversee every aspect of the production process, from raw materials acquisition to canning and dispatch.
  • Scheduling and Planning: Create prep, blending, carbonation, and pasteurization schedules to manage efficient production processes.
  • Leadership and Responsibility: Demonstrate acute awareness of responsibility, leadership, and a track record of problem-solving and implementing new processes.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Work closely with the founder to formulate recipes for large-scale production runs, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Quality Assurance and Scaling: Play a significant role in maintaining high production standards and scaling operations efficiently.
  • New Product Development: Formulate new recipes and collaborate on NPD projects and client work.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Manage juice movement throughout the unit, addressing issues related to production goals, raw materials, or mechanical challenges with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain strong relationships with suppliers of raw materials, packaging, and equipment.
  • Continual Improvement: Constantly seek ways to enhance efficiency and product quality, troubleshooting any production process issues.
  • Staff Supervision and Development: Oversee staff performance, developing training and mentorship programs to enhance skills and productivity.
Requirements:
  • Proven Track Record: A proven track record in a leadership role within drinks production, with hands-on experience.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in related industries such as kombucha, wine, beer, and spirits production.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Production Expertise: Expertise in running a production line and implementing quality assurance schemes.
  • Canning and Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in canning and knowledge of HACCP, SALSA, and regulatory programs.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Digital Tools: Proficiency in digital tools, including ERP/MRP systems, Google Drive, and Excel.
  • Personality and Skills: Personable, approachable, and able to maintain positive workplace morale. Strong understanding of process controls and organizational skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Work Ethic and Multitasking: Strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Physical Fitness: Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment.
  • Start-Up Experience: Relevant experience managing a start-up, brewery, or drinks production line.
